Meadowspring Farm is taking root.
If there's one phrase that captures this season of our lives, it's this:
Meadowspring Farm is taking root.
The weeks and months since our last blog post have been full…full of change, challenges, unexpected detours, and countless reminders of God's faithfulness.
We've been living in what can only be described as survival mode. We've moved, adjusted to full-time trailer life, parted ways with our original contractor, said goodbye to our sweet 16½-year-old cat, Cupcake, begun getting to know our neighbors and our new community, and faced challenge after challenge. At times, it has been difficult to know what to share or even find the words to describe this season.
But through it all, one thing has remained constant:
Hope is taking root here at Meadowspring Farm.
God has been faithfully at work every single day…in quiet moments and extraordinary ones. Sometimes His provision has come through encouraging words from friends. Other times it has come through answered prayers, unexpected discoveries, or simply the peace that reminds us He is still writing the story.
While work on the farmhouse itself is temporarily paused as we search for a new contractor, we continue to trust that what feels like a setback today is simply part of a much bigger story. Restoring this old home has proven to be more difficult than we ever imagined, but not impossible.
"With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible."
- Matthew 19:26
Life on the farm continues to bring smiles in the midst of the hard days.
Bella is growing like a weed and is still very much a puppy. It isn't always easy being a puppy in such a big body…for her or for us…but she's learning, and we adore her. Biscuit (more affectionately known as Beans) has fully embraced farm life and is happily exploring every corner of his new home. Mollie, our sweet older bunny, has gracefully settled into her cozy room in the trailer with Corbin. And our flock, led by our handsome rooster Oliver, has made themselves completely at home. Summer has brought endless opportunities to free-range, scratch for bugs, and occasionally discover an unsuspecting frog.
As we clear the property, we're discovering treasures we never expected to find.
Old stone walls hidden beneath years of growth.
The remains of a long-forgotten log cabin.
Peonies, hostas, foxglove, and other beautiful flowers planted by hands we'll likely never know.
Every discovery feels like a gift from those who loved this place before us.
At the same time, we're dreaming about those who will soon join us.
We picture families gathered around a fire pit sharing stories. Children swinging beneath the old maple tree. Goats greeting guests at the fence. A meadow filled with wildflowers. Trails winding through the woods. The old log cabin brought back to life. And Rose Cottage becoming a place where weary foster and adoptive families can finally rest, reconnect, and simply breathe.
Little by little, God is growing something here.
Not just gardens.
Not just buildings.
But hope.
In our next post, we'll take you back in time and introduce you to the remarkable history of this property…the families who came before us, the incredible hardships they endured, and why their story has become such an important part of the heart of Meadowspring Farm.
We can't wait to share it with you.
Where Hope Takes Root.
