Our Story
The genesis of Meadowspring Farm began in a hotel room in 2014.
On Memorial Day weekend, we set out as a family to enjoy some time together at the local homeschool convention. The setting was a beautiful hotel with lots of available amenities that were sure to please. Our almost 3 year old foster son had been with us a little over a year. We were strongly bonded but he was still processing a great deal of trauma. It is a long process. It definitely doesn't happen over night. One adoptive mama I know says it this way, "Hope is slow."
We spent most of our time at home, keeping him safe and following a strict routine to bring him comfort. Getting away seemed impossible but we had to try. We had to live. One morning his trauma was just too much. At this time, he struggled almost daily at one point or another. We did our best to understand and avoid his triggers but some things just have to be processed.
Have you ever been there as a foster or adoptive family? Have you ever longed to go on vacation but struggled to feel like you and your family would be understood? To feel like your children would not be judged? This is what we felt that day in that hotel room. We longed to feel understood and safe from judgement.
Years later, God would bring this memory to our minds one night while we scrolled the internet dreaming of a home of our own in New Hampshire. A beautiful property with a brook and mountain views caught our eyes. We shared with each other the idea of someday having a farm where we could host foster and adoptive families for respite. It was clear that God had laid this on each of our hearts.
Today, in 2025, we are still waiting on God's perfect timing as we seek to find a property where we will host families in need of love and understanding. We've been waiting and praying since our move to New Hampshire in February 2020. It's time to share our journey and God's plan as He continues to lead us. Would you like to join us?
