Searching for our Permanent Home (Part II)
We May Have a Winner…
Could you do us a favor? Kindly join us in prayer that we would find the right home—the one God wants to use for this ministry. It doesn’t need to be beautiful or polished. It simply needs to become a welcoming haven for children from hard places and the families who love them.
At the moment, we are under contract—but the situation is fragile. We’ve uncovered numerous hidden issues, any one of which could potentially end this sale. We’ve spent weeks problem-solving, gathering documentation, and navigating challenges we honestly haven’t faced in many years. Your prayers—for clarity, favor, and wisdom—would truly mean the world to us.
As we’ve shared before, searching for an affordable farm in New Hampshire requires real V-I-S-I-O-N. Initially, we passed on this property because of its many flaws—both large and small. But after some reflection and prayer, we realized that faithfulness sometimes means being willing to look again, to pause long enough to allow God to have a say.
Enter serious contender number two.
This property is smaller than some we’ve considered, but the upside is remarkable: beautiful land, a location near an incredible mountain, and a separate guest cottage that may be the most special part of the entire place. That cottage—cozy, cheerful, and full of promise—could one day serve as a peaceful retreat for families who desperately need rest and restoration. While it will require significant work before welcoming guests, the potential is undeniable.
The main house, however, is another story altogether.
It is nearly a complete teardown. Very little can be salvaged beyond the original 1790s wood flooring and a bit of historic trim. Short ceilings, awkward spaces, and decades of neglect make it hard to imagine what it could become. It took multiple site visits, much prayer, and careful thought to envision how this dowdy old house might one day be transformed into a warm, inviting home—a place where we can host, gather, and serve as a home base for the ministry.
To be honest, the interior is so shockingly rough that for now, we’ve chosen to focus on the exterior—sharing a vision for what this home could look like if the purchase goes through. We’re incredibly grateful for a wonderful contractor who is willing to walk this road with us and help bring that vision to life.
If all goes as hoped, we plan to create a video series documenting the renovation journey. It will no doubt be challenging, but we believe it will also be a beautiful testimony of restoration—of a house and, Lord willing, of many hearts. Below, you’ll see how the home looks today, alongside renderings of what we hope it may become in the months ahead.
It bears repeating how much we need—and appreciate—your prayers. Please pray for God’s favor in matters both large and small. For wisdom in decision-making. For provision. And for grace as we step into a process that will not be quick or easy.
There is much ahead: a farm to develop, outbuildings to construct, animals to prepare for working with children, and countless knowns and unknowns still waiting to be discovered. In time, we may reach out to those who’ve offered help—whether through labor, expertise, or encouragement. If you’d like to learn more about the ministry or how you might walk alongside us, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
And if the only way you can participate is through prayer, know that it matters deeply. Truly. We’d also love to know how we can pray for you.
As the old saying goes, “It takes teamwork to make the dream work.” We believe God invites each of us to play a part in loving and caring for others—and sometimes that means taking risks and doing scary things for His glory.
Thank you for being part of this journey with us.
With gratitude and hope,
The Kinkades
